A racing game for the mac. That´s what i wanted to program during a two week break back in november of 2005. Some might say that sitting down in front of a computer to design a game is hardly a vacation. And to those people I say: aaah... well, ...you might be right.
Vastly underestimating the time and skills required to do something like this all on your own, i started looking at game engines to power my top-down racer, in design close to the Amiga classic SuperCars. I started building and texturing cars in Cinema4D as a basis for bitmap sprites. I sketched up racing tracks and game menu designs.
Also, it was pretty clear to me that a racing game was nothing without a great soundtrack. I sketched out some tracks with MIDI-Intruments and Loops from SoundtrackPro - mind you, these weren´t full songs, these were snippets that were to grow into full tracks one day. Mostly faster paced with an emphasis on guitars and beats. To this day, these snippets are the only thing that I finished.
But while I found out, that i´m not that good of a programmer (read: not a programmer at all), that music thing was a lot of fun and kind of stuck with me. To this day, I think that some of the tracks were pretty decent for someone who has no education in music whatsoever, favorites being the orchestral Track 10 "Victory" and Track 9 "Winning Days".
